In a gig economy and during a time when job hopping is common, we will often compete with other candidates for a position. A pain letter is a way to stand out in a sea of resumes and cover letters.
As a public relations major at Cal State Long Beach University, through assignments from classes like Journalism 470- digital tools for public relations and Journalism 305- media design, I have developed a new skill set. These include the ability to build a website, as demonstrated with the one you are currently exploring. Additionally, I can effectively pitch and write articles. Along with utilizing Adobe InDesign for tasks such as creating compelling double truck photo pages, designing newspapers and newsletters.
Journalism 375- strategic communication honed in on my writing skills and made me dig deep. We were asked to choose a company to work on for the semester and different writing assignments were completed as if we worked for the chosen company. I chose Sanrio and throughout the semester I enjoyed the creative aspect as I wrote a newsletter, blog, magazine feature and a crisis communication plan.
